I am Sheila Paterson and have been teaching piano for over 40 years. I offer lessons to all ages of children and adults and teach classical and popular music.
I’ve found it most effective to focus not just on the music but also the pupil. Every child is different and learning is most effective when you understand who you’re teaching. Some are sensitive and need gentle guidance, others thrive on competition. The goals and approach must be based on your child’s personality, how they learn and what they find most fulfilling.
If they would like to sit for exams, I teach both the Royal School of Music or Trinity College curricula. I’m an Associate of the London College of Music (A.L.C.M.) and a Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music (L.G.S.M.)
A highlight is our yearly concert, where each student presents the efforts of their work to their peers and parents. This is where the hours of practice come together to celebrate what your children have achieved!
